Hello?

Aug 03 2012

Is anyone there? I’m afraid that only crickets remain around these parts…

So, the last post on Momconformist was on June 14. Oopies (as Kate says).  I didn’t exactly mean to go so long without writing, but it just sorta happened. It’s been one heck of a summer around here. Some days I feel like I’m about to lose my head and I wonder why life seems to be spiraling out of control, and other days I am so in love with summer, I can barely stand it. Summer has been FLYING by and we’ve been super busy! I’ve just been soaking up life with my little loves and I haven’t been worried about being in my online world.

Truth, though? I’ve missed it. And I’m not actually back yet, because we’re about to head to NC for a week at the beach. It’s our family vacation and it’s been much anticipated this year! Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to so far this summer, to hold you over until I can really be back.

A week at the beach with our neighbors, sans the dads.

Then, we had a wedding. My baby sister got married!!! (Almost 27 still counts as “baby,” right?)

Then, some VBS. Mercy, these kids love some VBS!

VBS was followed by a ton of snuggles and reading- two of our most favorite activities.

Then, we lucked out and got to house sit for some friends for an extended weekend. They have a pool and a lake (with a little beach, hammock, and kayaks) in the backyard. We pigged out on veggies from the garden and all we had to do was feed and play with sweet Sophie, the dog. She is the BEST dog and made our lives such a vacation!

And then my car broke down, and we’ve been without our van for a week. No big deal to lose your transportation the entire week before leaving for vacation, right? Ack. Fingers crossed that we get it back this afternoon!

Van or not, we’re about to skip town to update these pictures. Same beach, same house, one year later.

So, I’ll be back. I promise. I have a lot to write about: driving 5+ hours to the beach with two toddlers and no dad, wedding prep (plus my craftiness that accompanied this particular wedding), a matron of honor toast that was delivered without passing out or throwing up OR crying, some back to school stuff, a few things that God’s been teaching me lately, some major Pinterest recipe successes, and a few more things.

But for now, I’m off to finish reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I’m teaching it this year and haven’t read it since high school. If you’re looking for something to read this summer, get it now. I am so obsessed with it this time around and I’m dying to pick it up when I have a free second.

We’ll chat soon!

xoxo

Shucks, it was awfully nice of you to mention our gal Sophie. I keep meaning to say THANKS for the sweet little bouquets you left in the house for us–a nifty welcome-home treat.
